Colonel Wayne C. Grieme Jr. was commissioned a Second Lieutenant
in the Field Artillery upon graduating from the University of
Alaska in Fairbanks. After receiving his initial training at Fort
Sill, Oklahoma and completing Airborne School at Fort Benning,
Georgia, Colonel Grieme reported to the 2nd Armored Division (FWD),
in Garlstadt, Germany. There he served as Fire Direction Officer
and Platoon Leader in Charlie Battery, 4th Battalion, 3rd Field
Artillery Regiment and as a Company Fire Support Officer for B
Company, 3-66 Armor, TF 1-41 Infantry during Operation Desert
Storm/Desert Shield.
After completing both the Field Artillery and Armor Officer
Advance Courses, Colonel Grieme was assigned to Fort Riley, Kansas
and the 1st Infantry Division, serving as the Battalion Adjutant
and the Alpha Battery Commander in the 4th Battalion, 5th Field
Artillery. After battery command, Colonel Grieme was assigned to
Fort Sill, Oklahoma and the United States Army Field Artillery
School TF 2000 supporting Force 21 initiatives and later as the
Field Artillery School G-3.
Upon completion of Command and General Staff College and the
School of Advanced Military Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas,
Colonel Grieme was reassigned to Fort Riley to serve as the Chief
G-3 Training for the 24th Infantry Division. He then served as the
Brigade FSO, Battalion XO, and Battalion S-3 in the 4th Battalion,
1st Field Artillery. From Fort Riley Colonel Grieme deployed to
Camp Doha, Kuwait serving as a planner in the CFLCC C-5 during
Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Following duty at Camp Doha Colonel Grieme was assigned to Fort
Monroe, Virginia serving in the TRADOC Commander's, Command
Planning Group and then as the Deputy SGS. From Fort Monroe Colonel
Grieme reported to Fort Carson, Colorado to serve as the Commander
for 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Infantry
Division. During this time Colonel Grieme deployed his Artillery
battalion to East Baghdad for 15 months as a ground maneuver
battalion.
Prior to his assignment to Camp As Sayliyah, Colonel Grieme
served in the NORAD-USNORTHCOM J5 as the Doctrine Chief and then in
the USNORTHCOM J3 as a Deputy Command Center Director and Chief of
Current Operations.
Colonel Grieme holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from the
University of Alaska; a Masters of Military Arts and Sciences from
Fort Leavenworth; and Masters in Military History from American
Military University, Manassas Park, Maryland.
Colonel Grieme is married with two sons.
