Command Sergeant Major Charles A. Holliday Sr. is a native of
Leland, NC. He entered the United States Army in 1981 and completed
his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) as
a Field Artillery Cannon Crewman at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Upon
graduation, his initial assignment was to the 2nd Battalion 27th
Field Artillery in Germany.
Command Sergeant Major Holliday has served in a variety of
leadership positions to include: Howitzer Section Chief, Gunnery
Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Chief of Firing Battery, Senior Drill
Sergeant Leader, Operations Sergeant, Senior Enlisted Advisor(
ACRC), and First Sergeant. He has also served as the Battalion
Sergeant Major for the 1st Battalion 410th Multiple Launch Rocket
System (MLRS) Regiment, Command Sergeant Major for the 2nd
Battalion, 18th Field Artillery. His stateside assignments include
Fort Bragg, NC; Fort Deven, MA; Fort Bliss, TX; Fort Knox, KY; Fort
Sill, OK and Fort McPherson, GA. His overseas assignments include
three tours in Germany. CSM Holliday's most recent position was
serving as the Command Sergeant Major for the U.S. ARCENT Special
Troops Battalion at Fort McPherson, GA and Arifjan, Kuwait.
His Military education includes all levels of the
Noncommissioned Officer Education System, Drill Sergeant School and
First Sergeants Course. He is a graduate of the United States Army
Sergeants Major Academy, Class 52. Command Sergeant Major Holliday
participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and is a Veteran of
Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Command Sergeant Major Holliday's awards and decorations include
the Meritorious Service Medal (6th OLC), Army Commendation Medal
(7th OLC), Army Achievement Medal (7th OLC), Good Conduct Medal
(9th Award), National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional
Development Ribbon (numeral 4), Overseas Service Ribbon (numeral
3), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Medal, Armed
Forces Service Medal, NATO Medal, The Combat Action Badge and Drill
Sergeant Badge. Command Sergeant Major Holliday is a member of the
Ancient Order of Saint Barbara and he is a lifetime member of the
Prestigious Sergeant Morales Club.
