LTC John G. Rogers graduated from
Florida State University in 1986 with a B. A. in History. He was a
Distinguished Military Graduate and was commissioned as Second
Lieutenant in the Infantry in April 1986.
In February of 1987, LTC Rogers was
assigned to Ft. Bragg, NC where he served in the 2/325 Airborne
Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division as a rifle platoon leader,
TOW platoon leader, company XO, and interim commander. During this
assignment he served six months with Task Force 2-325 as part of
the MFO USBATT stationed at South Camp in the Egyptian Sinai. His
follow-on assignment was XVIII Airborne Corps as Deputy
Headquarters Commandant. During this assignment, he completed an M.
A. in Management from Webster University and deployed to Saudi
Arabia in support of Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm. In
March 1992, LTC Rogers left the Army to pursue a career in
business.
In 1994, LTC Rogers joined the
Georgia Army National Guard as Senior Instructor/TAC Officer for
the OCS Program at the Georgia Regional Training Institute (RTI).
He then served as S-3 for the RTI, and left the Georgia Army
National Guard for the IRR in 1996. He completed an MBA from Mercer
University in December of 1996.
On September 11, 2001, LTC Rogers
volunteered to return to active military duty in response to the
attacks that day, and in April of 2002 was assigned to First Army
at Fort Gillem, GA where he served as a Battle Captain, Senior
Operations Officer, and Chief of Operations for Joint Task
Force-Katrina in 2005. In 2006 LTC Rogers deployed to Taji, Iraq
and served with the Special Police Training Team 2-1-1 (Commando)
in support of 4th Brigade, 101st Airborne Division. He then
returned to Fort Gillem, GA and served as a Watch Chief in the
Operations Center.
From 2008 to 2009, LTC Rogers served
as Deputy Chief of Operations, USARCENT (FWD) at Camp Arifjan,
Kuwait.
From 2009 to 2010, LTC Rogers served
as Chief of Operations, USARCENT (Main Command Post) at Fort
McPherson, GA.
Prior to becoming the Garrison
Commander for Camp Arifjan and Director of Plans, Training,
Mobilization, and Security for ASG-Kuwait, LTC Rogers served as
Chief of Operations for USARCENT (FWD).
LTC Rogers has completed the Infantry
Officer Basic and Advanced Courses at Fort Benning, GA. He has also
completed the Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3) at
Fort Leavenworth; KS, and the non-resident Command and General
Staff College Course.
LTC Rogers's awards and decorations
include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (2
OLC), The Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation
Medal (4 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense
Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Armed Forces
Service Medal, the Southwest Asia Medal (three campaign stars), the
Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and
Service Medals, the Army Service Ribbon, the Multinational Force
and Observers Medal, the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, the 101 Airborne
Division Combat Patch, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Coveted
Ranger Tab, and the Expert Infantryman Badge.
LTC Rogers has three children.
