CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait (January 19, 2008) - Wounded servicemembers in the Warrior Return Unit at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, received a special care package from the Chicago Bears Football team Jan. 19.

Brig. Gen. James L. Hodge, commanding general of Army Materiel Command Forward Southwest Asia, U.S. Army Central, presented Bears t-shirts and bags to the ill and injured servicemembers at their temporary unit on the desert installation.

Hodge took the time to speak with each of the servicemembers as he presented the gifts. He asked about their injuries, their hometowns and how long they would be in recovery.

All of the servicemembers expressed their gratitude at receiving the shirts and bags from the team.

"I feel very happy that people actually care about us when we are injured and sick," said Petty Officer 3rd Class Tara Miles, from the USS Tarawa LHA1, a native of Kansas City. "It makes the time go by faster and we really appreciate it as Soldiers and Sailors."

After putting on her new dark blue t-shirt with its orange C and reattaching her special sling for an injured arm, another Soldier added her appreciation.

"I appreciate all the support from the people back home," said Pvt. Robin Stephan, 567th Inland Cargo Transportation Company, from Spring Lake, Mich.

Recipients included Army, Navy and Marine personnel from various units.
