BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (March 22, 2008) - Afghan National Police, assisted by Coalition forces, visited a village in Nangarhar Province March 19 to deliver humanitarian aid to assist the community's recovery from this year's harsh winter.

More than 180 people, in the village of Qalishahi received food and other supplies from the local ANP and their Police Chief Maj. Abdul Ghrais. Mashoq, the district sub governor, and a small number of Coalition forces were also present.

The Qalishahi village in the Darra Noor District is a village where insurgent activity is almost non-existent, and the people openly support the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

According to a Coalition commander on the ground, the village elders frequently ask their government officials to come and visit the village.

In addition to food, the ANP passed out prayer rugs, blankets, school bags and toys. Government representatives plan to return in the near future to provide additional support for this village.
